Robocalling: One way to produce an "enemies" list

By Gary ShaulI've been working on some research into the voter suppression phone call scandal in which voters were misdirected to non-existent polling stations. I hope to have some of the detailed results published on the weekend. I've looked at the Elections Canada financial records of 96 Conservative candidates (including most of those listed by the…See More

Why the opposition parties should cooperate in 2015 = by John Deverell*

If Canada is ever to become a representative democracy the NDP and the Liberal Party will have to cooperate to make it happen.  The next federal election offers a unique opportunity. Consider the prospect for 2015. On one side the Conservative…

Catch 22's first look at the election...

This is a high level summary of campaign results in ridings identified by the Catch 22 campaign. Over the coming weekend, we'll publish an editorial. Then in a few weeks we'll put out a more detailed look at our campaign - strengths and weaknesses, what worked and what didn't etc. Once that is done, the campaign will be wrapped up.

Obviously, we did not get the overall results we were looking for. With less than a 2% increase in the popular vote, Harper was successful at boosting his…

Help your local Catch 22 campaign "pull the vote" on Monday

While I've never run for public office, I have run for several union positions over the past 25 years. Having both won and lost elections by just a single vote, I can tell you how important every last vote can be. In the case where I lost, it was because of a mistake made by my scrutineer (yes, we're still friends).

We have to treat tomorrow's election as if every single vote could be the deciding vote between a minority and a phony majority…

Hi Gary;

This came back undeliverable yesterday -- so I'll try sending it this way -- Cheers!  Toby

Network EmailGary;  Thanks for posting the statement, but by whom is it audited? and where is the audit certification?  (2 minor questions)    Also, before I make my donation, within the statement are a number of $104.29 riding expenses for a “Gray” Shaul – may I assume this is you (and a typo)?  May I please ask what were these similar expenses for?  Thanks   Toby

            Catch 22 Harper Conservatives
A message to all members of Catch 22 Harper Conservatives             Dear Catch 22 Supporters,
The campaign's audited financial statement is now online.
            http://www.elections.ca/fin/thi/advert/tp41/TP-0001.pdf
Thanks again to the almost 400 people who made donations and many others who gave their time. Only donors who donated $200+ are listed by name in the report.
We spent the bulk of the money raised in the 28 ridings listed in the report.
We still have a small deficit of around $850 so further donations would be appreciated to help recoup out of pocket costs.
            Sincerely
            Gary Shaul
