"Hi John, I liked your latest article.
One point Brian Topp made last week in an all candidate's meeting (with Nikki Ashton) in Toronto was that Liberals in (not sure if he was describing Saskatchewan, Ottawa or Canada) would, if their choice to…"
"Sorry to learn of your enthusiasm for IRV, Jesse. How does that provide representation for the citizens who don't vote for the winner? In my view, IRV is a variant of FPTP, lipstick on the pig, still not democratic.
I wish we had a strong…"
"In Canada it's not so easy to get rid of a government. It is not sufficient for voters to vote for a different party. They must somehow agree on which different party in order to defeat the government candidates.

"Missing from the expanding Harper repertoire? Sympathy for the Devil.

I looked at a few of the polls at http://www.sfu.ca/~aheard/elections/polls.html to see if any poll for second choice preferences, but didn't see any. This site also notes that preference can be very fluid, so it may be hard to know what might happen.
Another avenue would be to see if there are any precedents for pre-election coalitions in other jurisdictions with remotely similar voting systems. Do you know of any?
Thanks for all your work with Fair Vote.
