The first all candidates debate for this riding is set for April 13 at 7 pm in Liverpool sponsored by the South Queen's Chamber of Commerce at the Best Western Hotel.

There will be another one on April 27 in Chester at the Legion.

On Dexter and provincial politics: The party in power has always taken its lumps, and so far the NDP are wearing theirs well. Gordon Earle's been gaining ground in this race for the past couple of elections, and the Liberal candidate is one who hasn't won a race since the days of 2 federal PCs Canada-wide. Look for Earle to take this one with the help of our strong local support.

If one looks at history the performance of the Harper government is scary. The way Harper has denied the democratic process is eerily like the path followed by Hitler and Mussolini. They to were elected but then proceeded to establish dictatorial regimes.  We need a regime change in Canada.

Unfortunately I will be away from the riding between now and the election.  I will arrange to vote or Gorden Earle

All a voter needs to know about the HarperCons is contained in the article in the Sat.April 2 edition of the Halifax Chronicle Herald, written by Ralph Surette. It is factual and shocking.

Getting the ball rolling is great. Sorry I can't coordinate anything since I don't have the consistent time. Not only that, I don't live in this riding but an adjacent one, so I can volunteer for something that takes one full day (hence my suggestions) but I can't as easily go out to single meetings. I am happy to help in any way I can.

My concern is that this campaign is very short with not very much time to shift  voter preferences.

Jean,

We'd like to start off more modestly to get the ball rolling. First, we'd like to identify an online group administrator for this group. Second, we'd like to minimally distribute flyers at all-candidate meetings and other community meetings where people would be receptive to our message. It would also help if we had a couple of people to co-ordinate that although the online admin could wear two hats if there's a shortage of co-ordinators.

We're finalizing a generic flyer in the next couple days that can be used in any of our ridings by filling in a few blanks.

Do we have someone who could video our "Talking to Conservatives" actions (assuming someone else wants to do this with me)? Might get some usable YouTube videos. Its more persuasive to voters if they can see someone like them open to changing their vote or deciding to vote.

I think it is important to do 2 things:
1) encourage those who might vote to defeat Harper to do just that
2) talk to those who plan to vote Conservative and open a discussion about why they might want to change their mind.
I am willing to knock on doors or approach people in places like Tim Hortons to open this conversation: "Talking to Conservatives" (sounds like a Rick Mercer skit, doesn't it?)
