There is only one opposition candidate that makes sense to support. Elizabeth May is running neck and neck with Gary Lunn. To support either the Libs or NDP in this riding is to help ensure a…Continue

Comment by c p on April 20, 2011 at 1:23am More tools to remove Lunn and install Elizabeth May! (amazing how the dirt is coming out on the Cons ..)

In 2008, the office of Conservative cabinet minister Gary Lunn hired a relative of Bruce Carson’s then-girlfriend, a former prostitute who was convicted in the United States of money laundering, The Globe and Mail has learned.
In the government, several people who knew Ms. Khan said they believed she was Bruce Carson’s daughter, or stepdaughter.
Though she had no particular relevant experience or Conservative Party background, Sarifa Khan worked from March to September of 2008 as a ministerial staffer in Mr. Lunn’s office, a job usually coveted by young staffers to Tory MPs.
Sarifa Khan is the niece of Barbara Lynn Khan and Saleemudeen Khan, a married couple who authorities say were the ringleaders behind an extensive, and sometimes violent, prostitution service in North Carolina.
After pleading guilty to money laundering and being deported to Canada, Barbara Lynn Khan started dating Mr. Carson in 2006, when he was an adviser to Prime Minister Stephen Harper, and purchased a condominium with him after he left the PMO in 2009.
Barbara Lynn’s niece, Sarifa Khan, was in her early 20s when she was hired by Mr. Lunn, then the Natural Resources Minister, for a job with the title of special assistant, parliamentary affairs and a salary of at least $53,700.
Comment by Andre on April 17, 2011 at 8:45pm all you people living in the riding and want to defeat Gary Lunn get behind
E May and not just by voting but volunteering on Election Day! I have been
involved in many campaigns both successes and failure and I know it is all about
identifying your supports and getting them out on Eday so E day is when a candidate really needs the boots on the ground to win

Comment by myna lee johnstone on April 13, 2011 at 4:20am I agree with Marion Pape
I am surprised that the big pollers aren't involved yet in these contentious ridings
If we are truly progressives, the NDP, Libs and Greens need to say, yes, let's see where the most votes are going and just for once, this time, do the noble thing. Edith and Rene have excellent qualifications yet they each need to acknoweledge that neither one of them has little chance of winning against our little Lunn.. The Libs think they are in 2nd place to Lunn
Comment by Marion Pape on April 13, 2011 at 1:48am This is not a discussion group for name calling and rude behaviour. Please refrain or we will start losing people.
Catch 22 is is designed to ensure we can get an MP other than Conservative Gary Lunn.
At some point in time-sooner rather than later, I expect, we will need to start talking about doing a poll to determine who is really running in first, 2nd and 3rd place and seeing if there can be some strategy to reduce competition among the progressive parties. I am actually thinking that candidates could withdraw or something equally drastic. How do we make this happen? The poll would have to be approved by each party and funded jointly. Can you see any uptake on this?
