My disgust with Gary Lunn has grown over the years. I am willing to vote green in Saaniche Gulf in exchange for a CPC vote in another close riding somewhere else. Let me Know.DonContinue

who to support 45 Replies

There is only one opposition candidate that makes sense to support. Elizabeth May is running neck and neck with Gary Lunn.  To support either the Libs or NDP in this riding is to help ensure a…Continue

Esquimalt-Juan de Fuca Meet and Greet - 6pm, Tues April 19

What is crucial is that we all get our shoulders behind the same wheel this time around, instead of scattering. This 'divide and conquer' strategy has worked on our riding and our country for long enough.

I have spent the last 23 years wishing I'd held my nose and voted for Turner, and the second shoe is about to drop.

BTW, has Catch 22 ACTUALLY endorsed May, or has her cheering section just decided that this bridge belongs to them ?

I've been under this bridge, voting socialist worker's party, for a long time.

I'll be voting for whomever is best poised to defeat Lunn as the election nears,

I'm just skeptical that it will be May, is all.

I don't know what will be necessary to smarten  up the Tory oldsters.

If NAFTA didn't twig them, maybe nothing will.

I miss Lynn Hunter.

I'm not sure of the population of younger folks in the peninsula part of our riding, but I imagine it must be relatively high based on the university in Victoria. I also know some people who work in Victoria but live in this riding. I'm very pleased to know that there are many of these same younger folks working on behalf of Elizabeth's campaign.

I offer a suggestion of identifying the major differences between the Conservative party of the "seniors'" day and the hijacked version today. This may be very helpful to be able to talk to seniors in a way that tells them we/you are aware of what the party used to stand for and then let them know the differences that affect them and their children/grandchildren. I don't think it's enough to just push for Elizabeth and the Green party, these folks may need to know that their political will is being duped.

Theodore,

I would ask the question - aside from voting liberal once, who do you normally vote for? If you would personally like to see a change from Gary Lunn in this riding, what do you see as necessary to affect that? What will it take to educate the population about the fact that the Conservative party they vote for today is NOT the same one they used to know?

We need solutions, before the present government decides to rename our country "Harper's Canada"...

I'm just trying to be realistic.

My family has lived in SGI for generations, and my cousin Earl was its' MLA for over 20 years.

I don't believe E. May can take Saanich, based on personal familiarity with the population.

The fish show ran on CFUVfm in Victoria from 1988 to 2005, where it was consistently popular.

It has been running for the last year and a half on CFSIfm here on Salt Spring, Sunday nights 9pm  -12 am.

I don't need to come here for attention.

I have voted Liberal a total of once in my 48 years, for Briony Penn.

It's encouraging to see people coming together. As someone who falls somewhere between NDP, Green, and Liberal on the political scale, it is frustrating to see the majority of voters disempowered by a party who has no respect for the role of opposition. Anyway, don't get me going... Its good to hear news from the ground. I wish I could join you but I'm super busy as a student! Keep up the good work.

regarding David Orchard: years ago several of us on SSI signed up to support David Orchard when he was running for PC leader
He made  a deal with Peter MacKay and Peter betrayed him . David took him to court and won.

Then David ran for the Libs but Dion/ threw a wrench into his nomination

causing First Nations  in the area to protest and they were split amongst themselves because the Libs were trying to put in a former Sask NDP leader to run as the new candidate after David had put in many miles and much money campaigning as well as having gained great respect from First Nations in his riding for standing with them on many issues. over the years
When Briony Penn was running most of these signed up "Orchardists" joined the Libs to nominate her
This election, many of these same persons are supporting Elizabeth, but not all of them.

yesterday several of us from SSI canvassed for Elizabeth in an upscale area of Sidney, near the ferries
It was fun and we had an overall  very positive response ( to my surprise!)
Our organizer Paul ,age 24,from the Sidney office told me that a long time Conservative organizer embraced Elizabeth May, attempted to tear up his Con card infront of her and wrote her a checque for $1000 declaring he was fed up with his party and would vote for her
The Sidney office was a hub of activity with many young people working earnestly
let's keep this up!!
the Vision Green launch is truly impresisve: so easy to read and understand

and spot on timing

It is a pleasure to hand out the seed packet and to leave the smart door hangers when no one is home
a large raccoon belligerently left his cat food meal at one door i went to
I intend to take some packets to the Saturday market to hand out and encourage people to vote for Elizabeth

next time i would have a little note pad handy to tell the not at home resident that the cat isn't getting his food
