My disgust with Gary Lunn has grown over the years. I am willing to vote green in Saaniche Gulf in exchange for a CPC vote in another close riding somewhere else. Let me Know.DonContinue

There is only one opposition candidate that makes sense to support. Elizabeth May is running neck and neck with Gary Lunn. To support either the Libs or NDP in this riding is to help ensure a…Continue

Hey All, I was thinking what we should start doing is putting up posters in this riding and many other ones which shows project democracies projections for the riding. Literally have these all around…Continue

Island residents, particularly those involved in the important swing riding of Esquimalt-Juan de Fuca, may want to go to this meeting. Catch-22 hasn't officially endorsed anyone there and Swing-33…Continue

the green party needs to let us know about the neck and neck rumours or stats?
@Sharon: I'm sure you'd make a wonderful admin, and an admin doesn't really have to do a whole lot anyway, but it'd better if it's someone who lives either in the riding or its vicinity, so hopefully they can organize on the ground as well.
So, let me ask again: does anyone in SGI want to organize things over there, including taking care of this page?

Comment by Theodore Trout on April 6, 2011 at 6:03pm Sorry to be the bearer of reality, but-
However well E. May is doing on Salt Spring, the Islands only account for about 18% of the total population of the riding.
A poll conducted of our riding six months ago shows May in fourth place behind Lunn.
Oraclepoll, October 2010:
If a federal Election were held today, which Party would you most likely vote for?
Full Riding
Liberal 37%
NDP 18.6%
Conservative 25.3%
Green 19.1%
Moreover, the SGI Liberal riding association was taken over by the followers of David Orchard (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Orchard), and as such is a radically different animal than the G. Campell-type Liberals who used to run candidates like Sheila Orr.
It may well be that the Conservatives are more afraid of the Orchardistas establishing a beachhead in the federal government than they could ever be of Elisabeth May.
Comment by Catch 22 on April 6, 2011 at 2:54pm Sharon/Everyone,
The Catch 22 Campaign is not a vote swapping website and it isn't our plan to organize vote swapping. We've identified our goals and plan for over a year and that is to get our message to voters in the riding with a variety of tools - flyers, phone calls, other good ideas generated locally. We created this group for people in SGI to talk with each other and organize locally. We hope that most voters who want to see Harper gone will vote smart. For those who will only vote to defeat Harper if they can find a swap that helps their party of choice, there's the "Vote Pair" website which is still getting off the ground but we're not involved with that. What individuals do is their own business.
Hope that clarifies this. We'd like to see the group organize to get out to all-candidate and other meetings with a flyer. To be frank, vote swapping is a distraction from that and a duplication of what others are attempting. If your sole purpose for being here is to promote vote swapping, please join Vote Pair.
Gary
p.s. - We're still trying to expedite something that will allow group members to message each other without having everyone sending messages to the whole group. We'll have a suggested procedure in place by Thursday afternoon.
Comment by Sharon Howarth on April 6, 2011 at 1:22pm Group admin I would be willing to try my best---commitments being what they are at the moment. What would need to be monitored?
This communication that were are carrying on is only in the Sannich riding. So a Sannich voter would vote green and a person in a Con vulnerable riding would vote Liberal or NDP, whichever candidate has the best chance of defeating the Con, correct?
What would an admin person do? The linking up for the voter in Sannich with the voter in the vulnerable Con riding? So, admin would pass out one person's email address to another? I will try this out but have a feeling that people of this campaign having my email address and vice versa may also work.
I am so.... concerned about any majority---ESPECIALLY Con---that I would relish anyone who feels like me having my email address, ss.how11@gmail.com
Comment by Catch 22 on April 5, 2011 at 10:11pm @Jan - we can allow group members to send private messages (internal mail on this site) to other members of the group. Depending on your email notification settings, you will (or won't!) get an email when someone sends you a private message. This setting was off initially, but I've just switched it on for this group for now. I'll consult with Gary about whether we should make this the default for all groups.

I would also like a consensus on what we can post here
I have many ideas, suggestions for campaigning, culture jamming and articles of interest (such as a freedom of info post from years back on Lunn's tactics)
