Hi Folks -- Bonjour encore;

It seems so long ago now -- the May election -- where almost 80% of the eligible voters consciously acted to NOT VOTE for the Harper-crits...(yes they got 40% of the vote, but 40% of 50% who voted equals only 20% of the eligible total -- the non-voters also made their own decisions to not vote to support them!)

And yet still under our supposed democratic system, the Conservative Reform Alliance Party (CRAP) "won" a majority government (financed to the hilt by their corporate keptocracy supporters who supplied the surplus cash for their admittedly illegal "In-and-Out" advertising scam which bought them their first crack at the government trough).  The Harper-crits will reign over 100% of us for the next 5 years -- acting almost exclusively in the best interests of the 1% -- and filling the corporate coffers of their bagmen with public tax dollars for untendered and unnecessary projects like prisons, jets, submarines, pipelines, etc., etc., etc..

Gretchen had 'bet' us that if our Pontiac New Democratic Party (NDP) candidate won, she would buy the first round for the members of this group one evening at the Black Sheep Inn...and I had seconded her bet by offering to cover a 2nd round.

I was speaking recently with Gretchen in Montréal where she now lives, and we think we could probably combine our bank accounts to each cover 1/2 of our bet (ie. pay for one round of ale combined -- as a road safety measure -- MADD and all that).  We also thought that we could invite Mathieu to join us and buy him a brew too -- as he has turned out to be a pretty good deputé in his first few months in the Chambre.

The key question is: when?  It probably can't be before Xmas, but then should it be during the worst months of winter (which given global warming, may not even come this year -- as it is now December, and still no snow has stayed on our ground at Otter Lake for more than a couple of days)?  So if we wish to combine celebratory occasions, and do so during more driveable weather and if you folks can wait that long, we could propose a Vernal Equinox-NDP-Spring Thaw toast to the defeat (at least in the Duchy of Pontiac) of the CRAP and its loose Cannon...

...ideally on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon to permit daytime returns on our not-so-well maintained Pontiac 'highways'.

Other suggestions would be welcome...

Cheers all!

Toby,

Having participated in (or been at the receiving end of) the Pontiac debate, I would very much like to join you. Alas, I'm too far away but if I'm in Ottawa around the time, I'll be there.

I don't think there's a lot of traffic on the site right now. I do have email addresses for 24 supporters who identified themselves as living in the riding.While I can't give those out, I could send a bcc: email on your behalf, preferably after you figure out the details, and people could get back to you.

Thanks Gary -- let's keep that bcc option in abeyance until we see if any of the others do reply...

(unless I'm mis-remembering, there was an auto-notify email sent out to everyone who was part of the discussion thread...

but if I'm wrong on that, let me speak with Gretchen next time I'm down her way, and we can narrow down some possible dates for you to bcc).

BTW, from where would you be travelling into the NCR, and when might you foresee being here in the Spring?  (if that's not too far in the future).

Thanks again;

Toby

PS  I hope I can find the right way to send this back to you...if not here, then I'll use your email.

OK it worked this way.

OK - Sounds like a plan. Not sure if there's an auto-notify for new threads.

I would be coming from Toronto but don't have any "real" plans to come to the NCR in the next few months.
