In  her unending quest to mimic Stephen Harper's approach to pretty much everything, we are hearing very little from  M.P.Cathy Mcleod of late . Not even from her supporters if letters to the editor are anything to go by.

Apparently there is an all candidates forum tomorrow night ( 7:00 pm at the  Desert Gardens Seniors Centre ) . It is one of the best opportunities we will get to put some hard questions to her.....and to the other candidates as well. From her past public appearances I expect Ms. McLeod to remind everyone how instrumental she was in bring millions of federal tax dollars into our area.

Almost all the grants she mentions are part of the stimulus package that was approved by Parliament as part of a coordinated international strategy to keep the world from plumtting into a major financial depression in after the 2008 global financial meltdown. Mr. Harper and the Conservatives deserve no credit for settling on this plan. It was something called for by all leaders of the industrialized world. It was also elementary Keynsian economics.

While I might be prepared to give them credit for designing and implementing the means whereby the monies were to be distributed, I note:  (1) this whole plan was a politician's dream - millions of dollars that they, thanks to parliament's approval, could now distribute in their home constituencies - always of course accompanied by endless self congratulatory remarks, pumping of the flesh and photo ops. (2)  the way in which the Conservatives "Action Plan" morphed into  " Canada's Action Plan" ( or was it the other way around) is another example of sneaky Conservative strategy. It was interesting that McLeans found recent examples of some signs going up after the projects in question were completed. Rest assured every sign will remain in place until after this election. (3) the Tories are quite blatant in admitting that the bulk of monies paid out while they are in charge will always go to ridings with a Conservative M.P. Never heard any other party being so brash . It's the politics of divisivness being taken to the constituency level .  See you at the forum  citizens.    Concerned .
