It's Tuesday, May 3. My local MP, Linda Duncan, defeated her Conservative opponent by more than 6,000 votes (she won by less than 500 votes in 2008). That's good. Linda is an impressive MP and I wish her well.

On the other hand, Harper will lead a majority Conservative government. I hope I've misjudged the risk to Canada's democracy. I hope the Conservatives' fundamentalist capitalism leaves some room for listening, for compassion.

Thank-you to all who shared their views and their hopes on this forum. Now we need your hope and determination for a better Canada more than ever.

She has demonstrated that she is an NDPer who can work with Liberals and Bloquistes to pass progressive legislation. Of course this bill will die in the Tory-dominated Senate if the Tories are not pushed out of power.
