A suitable alternative to the Harper Conservatives is a consortium of the three middle/left parties, beginning now.  The similarities of their platforms far outweig their differences.  They would have four years to become a credible entiity and a positive alternative to the present autocratic dictatorship of Harper.  Should they then win the next election, they could submit proposal in referendum form for electoral reform, so that all votes are counted, not just those votes for one candidate that is less than the combined votes for his opponents.  After that they can head back to  their respective corners, if that is what they decide.  United they/we stand.  Divided, we fell.

Do you really believe that you live in an "autocratic dictatorship"?  Seriously?  Do you even know what that means?  Why can you not accept that the people have spoken?  Having more than 2 parties pretty much guarantees that getting past 50% popular support isnt going to happen.  Would you really prefer that this country be run by minority governments forever crippled by the constant threat of election?

We have a process in place already and it works fine.  Didn't see me complaining when the libs won a few years ago with less popular support than the cons.  This country has many regions with some widely divergent views.  Our current system ensures that rural Canada has a voice rather than having Toronto tell the rest of us what's best for all.

Suck it up.
