At the risk of getting ahead of ourselves with strategy discussions, I found this analysis of the Newfoundland and Labrador ABC (Anything But Conservative) campaign run by Danny Williams in the 2008 federal election and thought I should share it...
It would appear the success of that campaign could be attributed to a suppression of Conservative support. That would be a worthwhile strategy to consider. We would have plenty of issues we could deflate Conservative support with (prorogation, spending, billion$ G20, Fake Lake etc...). Targeting polls that saw strong Conservative support in the last election could make the difference in many ridings.
Excellent link Lanny. What made the situation unique was that Danny is a PC - a 2nd cousin to the federal party. And he's popular. When I mentioned Catch 22 at a union convention I attended last month and dropped Danny's name, I was a bit concerned that the delegates from Newfoundland might take offense. On the contrary, when I talked to some of them personally during a break, they were quite accepting of Danny's ABC approach.
It would be great if found some Ontario Conservatives who are fed up with Dear Leader and would speak up.
