The genius of Canada has been that despite hosting peoples from both sides of just about every conflict in the world, we have succeed in not letting such differences get in the way of getting along with each other. Yet here we have a government, of all Canadians, that’s cynically exploiting, indeed reinforcing, political and social divisions among ethnic communities based on the fault lines of the troubled spots of the world.
