In 2008, Independent James Ford trounced the Conservative's hand picked
candidate, Tim Uppal in Fort Saskatchewan, Sherwood Park and the rural
areas of the riding. Uppal eked out a win by taking the Edmonton part of
the riding. At the end of the day, Uppal won by less than 1700 votes.
losing time again and time again in Edmonton Millwoods.
The residents of Sherwood Park and Fort Saskatchewan are sick
and tired of being taking for granted by Conservative Governments.
They nearly let the county know the Conservatives have to stop
their high handed approach to democracy last time around.
If you live in the riding and want someone representing the riding
in Ottawa instead of an opportunistic government representive
who visits the riding for photo ops, get out and vote for Ford.
P.S. This riding should be front and centre instead of being delegated
to the other ridings category because I found this forum after reading
an article in the Edmonton Journal.
Funny how in Sherwood Park local news we see absolutely no coverage of James Ford except "also present at the meeting.." which is just as much ink as the NDP candidate got for being a no-show. The Edmonton SUN is no better in their coverage of an individual who only lost the seat in the riding during the last election by ~2% of the popular vote.
Something against having an independent MP that isn't whipped by a party to vote in a bloc? Liberal / Green seems the way Sherwood Park News is slanting on this one judging by every single article I have read to date. Whatever the case the coverage is slanted towards vote-splitting any anti-Conservative (Big C) / Harper sentiment and channelling those votes to options other than James Ford who has to rely solely on grass roots support from the community and his diligent supporters planting lawn signs at every intersection.
The public has got to have an association in their mind of unfair and imbalanced with these so called news reports. As for TV - I haven't watched cable television years now so I couldn't tell you.
